Here we go!

Could these five be the new Steps/Pop!? Only time will tell. On their MySpace-page you can preview four of their songs, and I’m sharing the best one.
It sounds like something Pop! could have recorded for their album. And who knows, maybe they did too!

Isn’t she gorgeous, the Russian Britney? Alsou is her name. And she finished 2nd in the Eurovision song Contest 2002 with the Britneytastic “Solo”. “Sunshine” was the b-side of Alsou’s latest single “Always On My Mind” which was planned to be her big breakthrough-single all over, but that did not quite happen.. although a second English album from Alsou is planned this summer. Can’t wait!

Remember Bellefire? Probably not. Irish girlband, had a few hits then disappeared. They made two brilliant albums though, beautiful popmusic that sounded not so original yet original. You know what I mean? Probably not. I’m dizzy today.

Danish pop!
Is there any? Ehrm.. yes, there is some. Over the years I've collected a few Danish songs I've really liked. And it is my DUTY to share them with you. Forgive me for not giving you any details about the singers but since they're not well-known in Sweden, I don't know much.
I remember watching this video on Danish TV once and found it irresistible. Years later I tried to find it and with success I did. The song is written by Swedes, but the singer is of course Danish which makes this more or less Danish. Btw, it's impossible to find a pic of the gal.
Download: Mirah – Stop And Think It Over

Bryan Rice – doesn't sound very Danish though does it? Well, maybe it's his stagename. I was pleasently surprised when I found out about this guy. He's like the Danish Ronan Keating (he should take that as a compliment if he's reading this)
And his single "Homeless Heart" is in fact a really nice tune penned by Swedish Andreas Carlsson and Desmond Child.
Download: Bryan Rice – Homeless Heart

Oh yes, good old Linnéa. I absolutely love her wannabe-britney-voice. It's like she's trying to imitate Britney.. and she's doing it quite well too. What about the song then? Well, it's very Swedish and pop.. and here's me promising to do an all-Danish post!! What to do, what to do..
Download: Linnéa Handberg – This Is Who I Am

I heard this on the radio once and I was like "What is this?".. Then a friend asked me to download a song and surprisingly it was THIS song. It's a cool dancetrack, perhaps not the best I've heard in my life but it's still pretty catchy and annoying.
Download: Marly – Saturday (Morjac Radio Mix)
Did I forget anything? Probably.
Sorry about the youSENDits, but Zshare wasn't working.. if the links have expired and you still want to hear leave a comment!

Sing it once, sing it twice!

If you're a popnerd like me you just got to love Pop! and their infectious songs. "Xanadu" was meant to be their fourth single but they were dropped (Biggest shame in history of pop). It is such a great cover. It sounds like Steps, ABBA, Bee Gees all in one..
Download: Pop! – Xanadu

Lovely Icelandic Selma finished 2nd in ESC 1999 and returned in 2005. Despite a great song she didn't even make the final. I've always liked Selma, she's got some very nice poptunes.. and here's one of my favs!
Download: Selma – Let's Stay Up

1998 gave the world some excellent pop. And the guys in Ultra did their share as well. "Say It Once" was the song me and my sister went crazy about, we listened to it all summer.. It's a song I want everyone to have in their little mp3-collection so here you go.
Download: Ultra – Say It Once
Sorry about the big gap from last time's update but been kinda busy and tired lately.

Pop on the loose!

Malta's own pop-prince is without a doubt Fabrizio Faniello. You have all probably heard about him, some of you might even saw him in the ESC this weekend. So far he's made three albums, most of them have some really great poptracks. Here are two of my favourites.

The Belgian duo Sylver are about to release their fourth album this year. They've had great success with their previous albums. The first single from the album is a cover of ABBA. A very good cover indeed. I didn't think I would like it, but she has a nice voice and the music is just great. And how can one not like ABBA!!
Download: Sylver – Lay All Your Love On Me

Sorry about the picture but it was one of few I could find. Honestly, I don't know anything about Deuce. To describe their music I'd say they sound like a mix of ABBA, Steps, Army of Lovers, Gina G and some trashy 80's music. But it's fantastic!

Back!
After a little break I'm back to deliever you some of the finest pop around. Popmusic from all over the world.
Let's start off with some..

I don't know much about this group. Only that four of the members were from Norway and the drummer from Sweden, who was part of a brillant Swedish popgroup in the 90s.
What I can tell you about this song is that Ace of Base recorded this, but it was left at demo-stage and then these five girls got it. I think it's great!
Download: The Tuesdays – I Was Thinking Of You

The fabulous Pay TV made their debut in Swedish preselection to Eurovision in 2004, with the brilliant Trendy Discoteque, it didn't do that well and a year later they returned with the even more brilliant Refrain Refrain. Since then all fans have been waiting for an album which is due to be released some time this year, hopefully.
And if you don't know how a traditional Swedish schlager should be written – listen to Refrain Refrain and write your own schlager!
Download: Pay TV – Refrain Refrain

Princessa in a Spanish singer who had little success across Europe in the 90s. Don't know much else to say really. The important thing is the song. And I've chosen Ensalza Tu Amor. A big favourite of mine, released in 1994, and I still listen to it. It's beautiful, especially the nanana-part!

Happy Friday!

Therese is the woman I'd like to label as the queen of dance, in Sweden. She had massive hits under the stagename 'Drömhus'. In 2000 she decided to leave all that and start a solo-career using her real name and with material in English.
In 2002 the first single Monkey was released and it was an instant hit on the charts. The follow-up, I Need Somebody, didn't even make the top 60 (MADNESS!!!). You may also remember her from the hit-singles Put 'Em High and Take Me Away together with Stonebridge.
Download: Therese – I Need Somebody

One of the most beautiful voices in the world belongs to the wonderful Sarah Brightman. She's rather fantastic, mixing opera with all different types of music. Her first single, I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper, was released back in 1978 and sold over half a million copies. After that Andrew Lloyd Webber discovered her and the rest is history.
My Imagination is quite rare to find. It was only released on a CD that was sold at her Harem Tour. I was lucky to get a copy! The song is different from her other music, it's more basic pop. Could have been a Swedish Eurovision-entry..
Download: Sarah Brightman – My Imagination

The Italian singer In-Grid had her big breakthrough a couple of years ago. Scoring big time all over with Tu Es Foutu. Last year the even more catchier Mama Mia was released. A song that I got hooked on after 30 seconds. I promise you, whether you like this or not, you will be humming along to this all day..
Download: In-Grid – Mama Mia
Sorry about the Rapidshare-links, I just don't trust Zshare at all anymore.

Dance divas!

Either you love or hate Lisa Scott-Lee. Everyone has his own opinion on her, and mine is that she seems to be a sweet person. And I do like her voice, and I know she can sing. One of my favourite tracks by Lisa never got released, but leaked. It's called "Back In Time" and is a discostomper. It was later recorded and released by Angel City. Lisa's version is much better though. Enjoy!
Download: Lisa Scott-Lee – Back In Time

Anna Vissi has for a long time been one of Greece's biggest superstars. She has sold nearly 10 million albums to date. She will represent Greece at this years Eurovision (lots of Eurovision connections on PN) with the ballad "Everything". A quite good song, although I prefer this song. And if this had been their entry this year they would have got my 12!
Download: Anna Vissi – Everything I Am

Tina is one my favourite singers and persons. She is really lovely and amazing towards her fans. I wish everyone could be like her. Last year she released her second album "Mastermind" which is absolutely brilliant. I recommend it to everyone. You won't be disappointed. This song is taken from that album.

Catfight!!
To be honest with you, I know nothing about this girl or her history. Only that she has participated in Star Academy. She's from the Wallonian part of Belgium, and if all Belgian music would sound like this, they would surely be known more for their music than their waffles.
Download: Mélanie Martins – S'aimer Plus Que Tout
The beautiful Maltese Ira Losco finished second in the ESC 2002 with "7th Wonder". This song is quite different. It's more rock but still very pop. I fell in love with the song the minute I heard it. It puts me in a good mood. I hope it will do the same to you!
Download: Ira Losco – Love Me Or Hate Me

Oops! Another Belgian today. The name is Katerine and she won Star Academy in 2005. She's not that much of a singer, but she has a few good songs. "Catfight" is one of them, and it's also her new single. You can watch her videos and listen to more clips on her official website: www.katerineonline.be
Download: Katerine – Catfight
PS. A comment is always appreciated.
